Shock has worn off and a vociferous desire for accountability has been born.
Senator (NAME HERE):
In November of 2006, an unprecedented electoral upset gave Democrats control of both houses of Congress. Whether or not this unlawful administration chooses to follow the rule of law or not, we, your base and many many more Americans spoke in one voice that day saying "Enough." It was a day that my confidence in our democracy was rekindled and my hope was rekindled.
Since then, we have waited patiently even as the party's unbelievable inability to use the media to your advantage startled us. We have been understanding of the fact that due to the slim majority the Democrats hold, your ability to make a true change in direction for our country would be difficult; as Republicans have filibustered your initiatives more so than the previous ten Congress'. Believe me, we are all paying attention. We had chosen to forgive the Democrats for their lack of cohesiveness, their murky stances, their befuddled and disturbingly naive attempts at political gamesmanship.
However, what happened in the house and Senate this past weekend has shown many Americans that you are either spineless, foolish, or simply blundering elitists who are in fact no different from the dangerous Republican party. By giving thias administration unfettered access to our email and phone calls, you have handed this administration all it could have ever wanted with the "rubber stamp" Republican Congress of recent years. Our faith is beyond shaken, it is nearly shattered. Of all the feelings of confusion, betrayal, questioning if we had all been lied to, the only question one can muster is "How did you let this happen?". Yourself and Senator Reid have some serious expalining to do.
How could you let this happen?
I have been a very active and passionate member of the party base for a long time and I must tell you that I am so disheartened, so angry, so disenchanted, I find myself turning to apathy. And many others feel the same way. From our perspective, you have played your hand so incredibly and utterly sophomoric it is truly astounding.
How could you let this happen?
So many people ptu their faith in you.
How could you let this happen?
So many people thought you would defend the Constitution from George W. Bush's administration.
How could you let this happen?
You are America's last line of defense to remain the nation we were founded upon.
How could you let this happen?
You were the checks and balances to an out-of-control executive.
How could you let this happen?
You essentially made legal everything you claimed was illegal as you ran your campaigns in November.
How could you let this happen?
Apathy is not productive. But neither is capitulation. You have made fools of our party and of yourselves.
You have much work to do to regain the confidence and support of so mamny people who handed you the reigns of Congress. Once again:
How could you let this happen?
