Okay, well maybe not "endorse"...
But he is sure that Obama will win the election. So, in an unusually bitchy Op-Ed, The evil Professor Xavier (sans goatee) nips at his heels, and whines like a child saying "No fair!"
I usually have to take my Lipitor before I read Krauthammer's editorials. But today's is so unbelievably "senile-grandma-esque" that it's funny. I laughed.
Charlie made me laugh. Wow.
One article in every 25 or so actually has merit but like his doppelganger George Will, he somehow convinces himself that he is a Serious Intellectual, and not a simple sniping partisan twisting facts, logic and in some cases himself to prove anything progressive as "Purblind", "liberal", ka-ka, poo-poo etc.
"Beware!" cries Chuck!! Beware the "cult" of Obama; Scary, black witch doctor, snake oil salesman!!
There's no better path to success than getting people to buy a free commodity. Like the genius who figured out how to get people to pay for water: bottle it (Aquafina was revealed to be nothing more than reprocessed tap water) and charge more than they pay for gasoline. Or consider how Google found a way to sell dictionary nouns-- boat, shoe, clock -- by charging advertisers zillions to be listed whenever the word is searched.
And now, in the most amazing trick of all, a silver-tongued freshman senator has found a way to sell hope. To get it, you need only give him your vote. Barack Obama is getting millions.
Apparently a man who can inspire millions-------OF DEMOCRATS-----is a threat, a liar, a radical. And God forbid some so-called conservatives become "bewitched" by this false prophet, the threat is compounded! Fear the dark preacher of hope!! fear him!!
"We are the hope of the future," sayeth Obama. We can "remake this world as it should be." Believe in me and I shall redeem not just you but your country -- nay, we can become "a hymn that will heal this nation, repair this world, and make this time different than all the rest."
And to prove that he is correct in this borderline racist, anti-christian, terrified screed, he pulls out some liberal quotes who agree with him:
Jake Tapper, Joel Stein, Joe Klein... liberals one and all..(ahem)
ABC's Jake Tapper notes the "Helter-Skelter cult-ish qualities" of "Obama worshipers," what Joel Stein of the Los Angeles Times calls "the Cult of Obama." Obama's Super Tuesday victory speech was a classic of the genre. Its effect was electric, eliciting a rhythmic fervor in the audience -- to such rhetorical nonsense as "We are the ones we've been waiting for. (Cheers, applause.) We are the change that we seek."
At the end of the day, Charles is Red from the Shawshank Redemption (played by Morgan Freeman)who tries to tamp down Andy Dufregne's spirit--for his own good:
"Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane."
Apparently this is true. But it isn't the hopeful who are driven insane; It is those that are too jaded, cynical, bitter and scared like poor Mr. Krauthammer who are driven insane standing nearby, knashing their teeth watching hope blow past them and leave them behind and eventually, even to Mr. Krauthammer's great dismay, winning the day.
Go Barack. Go. With hope.
